Online daters, you can now hire someone to find the love of your life for you.
Who has time to answer a million questions about their likes and dislikes – and then spend hours pouruing over potential matches?
That’s why a growing number of matchmaking companies will take on those tasks for you. All you need to do is show up for the date!
Here’s how it works:
You usually have a phone interview with the matchmaker so they can gauge your personality. Then, they create a profile for you, scour dating sites looking for potential matches, and email you a short list of qualified suitors every week. If you’re interested, they’ll arrange dates. Everything from the day, to the time, to the activity. All you have to do is show up. If sparks don’t fly, the matchmaking company continues looking.
People love that these new matchmaking companies save them hours of time, and handle awkward ‘get to know you’ emails, like “I saw on your profile that you play in a soccer league, tell me more.” In fact, a study in the Journal of Interactive Marketing found that the average online dater spends over 5 hours a week reading profiles and nearly 7 hours a week fielding emails.
But the convenience of a personal online dating matchmaker comes with a price tag - anywhere from $100 bucks to a few thousand dollars a month. For example the company A Million Matches offers an “executive” package. And for $12-hundred bucks a month, they’ll do everything from run background checks on potential dates to arrange a photo shoot with a professional photographer so you have quality profile photos.
