Ladies, take a look at your nails – they could make or break your next job interview. Researchers surveyed 2,000 executives and discovered that a lot of them judge female candidates based on their appearance. Here are the shocking stats:
1-in-4 employers said that chipped nail polish makes candidates appear sloppy.
1-in-5 of managers see split ends as laziness.
Then, easy on the self-tanner! A dark tan makes bosses think you’ll be using your “sick days” for “beach days.”
And, ditch the red lipstick! Bosses see that as a sign you’re too confident.
In fact, makeup in general is a risky move. Women with a natural look were considered “too emotional” because it looked like they didn’t wear eye makeup because they worried they’d cry it off. And fully made-up women can’t win, either because a lot of recruiters were intimated by their flawless appearance, and assumed that they’d immediately be bucking for a promotion or take their job.
So, ladies, next time you have an interview – experts suggest a safe bet is to go for a put-together, enhanced but natural look, from head to toe.
