Hey guys; if you want to be successful in your marriage and family life, here's the scoop, from Dr. Phil.
  • Being a PROVIDER. Most men believe that being a good provider means supporting a family financially. But a man should also contribute to the emotional, spiritual and physical well-being of his family. Money alone can't do that, you have to be present in their lives.
  • Being a PROTECTOR. This doesn't mean beating up the guy next door if he insults your wife. It means protecting her self-esteem and self-worth, as well as your kids'. It also means guarding against any threats to the things that you and your family value.
  • To be a good family man, you also have to be a LEADER. Instead of waiting for your wife to speak up when you're having problems, take the lead. Get in the game and create what you want in your family instead of whining about your situation. Marriage isn't a 50/50 partnership - it's a 100/100 partnership. That means you give 100 percent. And remember, you get what you give.
  • And finally, Dr. Phil says being a man also means being a TEACHER. What is your behavior teaching those around you, especially your kids? It's important to provide a good example for your loved ones AND your community with both your words and actions. So set high standards for yourself and teach by DOING.
