But hypnosis may actually help the body heal faster. That's from the medical experts at Health magazine.
Scientists aren't sure why hypnosis really works. But it's powerful enough to make breathing easier for people with respiratory illnesses. It can also help relieve the often-excruciating pain associated with serious burns. But it does more than just make you feel better. In fact, researchers at Harvard University found that hypnosis can speed up the healing process for broken bones and scars from surgery. How? Hypnosis seems to influence brain chemistry, hormone production, the nervous system and the immune system, and boost them into overdrive.
Hypnosis also helps people tame panic attacks, have fewer complications from surgery, and lose twice as much weight.
Can hypnosis work for you? Well, only about 5 percent of people cannot be hypnotized. Hypnosis can make you unusually receptive to suggestions   but it can't make you do anything you don't want to do. It simply makes you relax, block out distractions and focus your mind.
If you want to use hypnosis to help control pain or anxiety, talk to your doctor first. But if you do decide to find a qualified hypnotist, I've got a couple links set up for you over at Tesh .com.
