Guess what? You could be the cause of your own headache! Here are 3 bad behaviors that are wreaking havoc on your head……Courtesy of the Diamond Headache Clinic in Chicago……

  • The first bad habit: Skipping meals. When you don’t eat, your blood sugar drops, and the imbalance of chemicals in your body causes your head to hurt. What’s the fix? Eat a small snack every couple of hours between meals to keep your blood sugar stable. And DON’T skip breakfast! Your blood sugar is low in the morning because you haven’t eaten all night, so you need to have breakfast if you want to avoid that mid-morning headache!
  • The next bad habit that could cause headaches: Poor posture. Holding your neck in an unnatural position can tighten the muscles around your head, causing spasms and pain. How do you fix this? Make sure you stand up tall, keeping your head straight and your shoulders pulled back. This should keep the muscles around your head relaxed and loose.
  • And a final bad habit that can give you a headache: Eyestrain. Squinting in front of a computer screen overexerts the muscles around your eyes and throughout your head. The fix? Make sure you look away from your monitor once every 15 minutes, and sit at a comfortable distance from your computer so you don’t have to squint. However, if your headache causes you to become confused or lose consciousness, is accompanied by a fever or illness, or comes on suddenly and feels like it’s the worst headache you’ve ever had, see your doctor. This could be a sign of something more serious……
