Are you jealous of Dilbert’s job? Is every night at home the same? Being in a rut saps your performance and takes the fun out of life. Trouble is: it’s easier to get into a rut than get out of one- Until now! I have 3 proven tips for putting more life in your life. These are courtesy of career coach Leslie Evans and the MSN website:
- Do something uncomfortable. Getting out of a rut requires stretching yourself. You don’t need to take up bungee jumping. For example, if you spend most of your time shopping, go a month without using a credit card. If you’re shy, force yourself to talk to 3 strangers every day.

- Suggest the unexpected. If you’re feeling stuck at work, ask your boss about starting a new project that interests you. At home, turn off the TV and go for a walk with your family, or play a game. Doing something different gives you the confidence to keep branching out.

- Volunteer. Doing something for others is a great way to blast out of a boring routine. You’ll meet other people, feel happier, and get a new perspective on your situation
If you don’t know where to start, try a website like Volunteer Match.com. You plug in what interests you and it matches your likes to a volunteering opportunity.
