Being happily married can be bad for your health. That’s the conclusion of a new study from the University of Cincinnati. It examined the eating habits of more than 100 couples in long-term relationships. And it found that a lot of couples influence each other’s behavior.

In other words, there are many people who develop a junk food habit simply because their spouse always eats junk food.

Here’s the surprising part: Among the couples who influenced each other, researchers found it was almost always the man who influenced bad eating habits. In fact, many guys identified themselves as “bad boys” when it came to their diet. And their spouses went along with it, because it made them feel more bonded in their marriage.

It was far less likely that the man would start eating salads and yogurt because his wife did.

The lesson? If you’re in a long-term relationship, and you’re wondering why you’re suddenly packing on the pounds, it’s probably the guy’s fault!
