As we get older, our metabolism naturally slows down. For example, at 40 you could be burning 100 to 300 fewer calories a day than you did when you were 30……But the good news is that you can boost your body’s fat-burning ability by making a few simple adjustments……Here they are, courtesy of Woman’s Day magazine…… First: Don’t cut too many calories. In one study, when volunteers followed an irregular eating pattern but still consumed the same amount of food each day, the amount of energy they burned slowed down……So if you’re trying to stay fit, Taylor says to establish a regular eating schedule. And one last tip for battling metabolism slow-down: Laugh every day! You don’t need to feel guilty about taking a time out for a Seinfeld rerun. According to a study presented at the European Congress on Obesity, just 10 to 15 minutes of laughter burns up to 50 calories. If you do this every day for a year, you could lose up to 4 pounds! And if you want to burn even more calories, put the remote in a drawer and get off your tush to adjust the volume……
