These days, more people watch TV shows on their smartphone than on an actual TV. That’s the surprising finding in a new report we read about.
Researchers found that more North Americans than ever are ditching TVs and computers, and instead using smartphone apps to do everything from watch football games to look up Chinese take-out menus.
To give you an idea of how wildly popular smartphone apps are, experts compared them to the ratings for the “American Idol” finale which airs once a year. It reaches approximately 20 million viewers on TV. While mobile apps already reach more than 20 million North Americans per hour. That’s the equivalent of 17 “American Idol” finales every day.
So, why are people going app crazy? Experts say it all boils down to the convenience factor. If you have your smartphone on you, no matter where you are, all you need to do is download an app.
