Time magazine put out a great “food guide,” listing the healthiest foods of all time. We don’t have space to print the whole list, but here are some of the highlights:
Black Beans. They are packed with protein. In fact, they have as much protein as lean meat, and have zero saturated fat. They’ve also got a lot of fiber, which helps us stay full, and omega-3 fatty acids, which are proven to boost heart health!
Pumpkin. We’re supposed to have up to five servings of fruits and vegetables a day. And pumpkin is one of the healthiest vegetables you can buy! Experts say its orange color is a “dead giveaway” that it’s full of beta carotene, which wards off heart disease. It’s also loaded with fiber and vitamin A.
Bulgur – or “cracked wheat.” This whole grain is great for you! It’s a popular Middle Eastern food made from wheat kernels that have been boiled and dried. Experts say bulgur is an “overlooked” whole grain that’s really good for us. People aren’t always aware it’s packed with fiber and B vitamins, and it’s proven to help keep our insulin levels and blood glucose stable. Plus it’s a flexible food – since you can have bulger in bread, sprinkle it on salads, or mix it with vegetables as a side dish, instead of rice!
That’s just three of 31 foods in Time magazine’s new “food guide.” If you want to go in-depth with the complete list of the healthiest foods of all time, click here.
