Jobs Will Change Because Of The Economy And New Technology This Year

Let’s talk about some of the ways experts predict your job will change this year because of the economy and new technology. For example, a growing number of companies are ditching email to save money because so many workers are keeping in touch with “tweets” and text messages. How else is the workplace changing?

First: More companies are offering “reverse mentoring.” That’s where younger workers train the older workers, instead of the other way around. Why? Because today’s companies are realizing they need to master new technology to stay competitive. So, they’re hiring younger workers to help show the older folks how to use social media – like Facebook, for example.

One more way the workplace is changing: There are fewer restrictions on mobile devices. Because in the past, if you needed a laptop or cell phone to do your job, you used one issued by your employer – so they could monitor what you were doing. Today, more companies are encouraging people to bring their own devices to work, to help save money. And in return, they’re putting fewer restrictions on how, when, and where you can use devices, meaning it may be okay to play Angry Birds at work, as long as you get your job done!
