I'm here to fill you in on one of the latest trends in entertainment...

Cooking. Don't worry, you don't have to stand over a hot stove, but that's exactly what the actors slash chefs are doing at theaters in New York.
There's an off-Broadway show called "Cookin'!" It's like "Stomp", the tap dancing show crossed with Benihana. Each week, 4 actor-chef-gymnasts, do a choreographed cook and chop routine to music, combined with non-verbal comedy. And at the end of the performance, the chef/actors have prepared a wedding banquet. Each week they use 300 knives, 110 cabbages, 60 cucumbers and 1,000 dumpling skins. The show was a huge smash in Korea, where it started. Over a million people have seen the show there. It's now in New York, and they've toured 25 other countries.
But that's not the only cooking show that has made it to the stage. There's a HUGE interest in this kind of entertainment thanks to the Food Network and shows like "Iron Chef." And there are currently 4 cooking shows in New York City   one at a dinner theater with food-themed song and dance numbers. The audience gets served a course that has been cooked on stage between each number.
There's a one-man show that will actually come to your house. It's called "Momma's Knishes"   and a man posing as an old 1930's Brooklyn housewife comes to your home, entertains you and your guests with stories about the old world while cooking knishes.
And there's a one woman show called "My Kitchen Wars" in which the actress tells the story of her life   and the people she's cooked for   all while preparing a real gourmet meal on stage.
Basically, audiences are captivated by cooking now   whether on TV or on the stage. Unfortunately, we'd rather see someone else do it than do it ourselves. Case in point   only a third of the meals we eat are cooked at home.
