Give Your Pet A Vacation While You Go On Yours!

There’s a new pet trend to tell you about: Pet stay-cations. Basically, when you’re traveling, maybe you don’t want to ask a friend to watch your dog. Or you want your pet to have more personalized attention than a regular dog boarding facility, with dozens of dogs running around. Now, your pet can go stay with someone nearby, and have a little stay-cation of their own.

There’s a new website that connects pet owners with pet sitters called DogVacay.com. The pet-sitters can either be professionals, who do this for a living and have certifications and training. But there are also casual dog lovers who want to watch a dog or two in their home and make little extra money.

On average, the sitters charge $30 a day to board your pet in their own home. About half of what you’d pay to board your pet in a kennel. And a lot of the people who offer their services work from home, so they’re there all day to look after your dog.

On DogVacay, pet sitters set their own price – and the site takes 3 to 10 percent of the transaction fee, depending on how much business the sitter does. It’s similar to other new websites like Air B-n-B, which connects travelers with people who are willing to rent out their home, or a room in their home.

If you want to check it out, or you want to earn a little extra money boarding a dog - the site is DogVacay.com.
