Men have hang-ups about money

That's not my opinion   that comes from Susan Galvan, a financial planning expert from the Kinder Institute of Life Planning. She says men need to stop thinking money will make them happy. Instead, guys need to decide what they want from life to make them happy, and then figure out how much cash they need to get there. So here are some common male money hang-ups and solutions:
  • A lot of men feel, "I don't earn enough". What they really should focus on is a saving and spending strategy so they're living within their means. Susan Galvan says when you focus on the money, you'll never find fulfillment. Money is your support system, not the primary goal.
  • Another male money hang-up: "As soon as I earn it, I've spent it!" Galvan says the essence of saving is delaying gratification. All those lattes, lunches, and weekend getaways add up. Pare down and save up.
  • And the final male money hang-up: "I have buyer's remorse!" That's because you made an impulse purchase then realized you really didn't need what you got.
Anytime you're tempted to open your wallet and buy something over a hundred dollars, don't. Wait a day and then see if you still want it as badly.
