They don’t call it THE GREEN-EYED MONSTER for nothing!

Envying your friends and being jealous of other people’s accomplishments is a sure way to make yourself miserable. So, I have the 3 steps for undoing your envy and being happy again. These come from the new book, Turn On Your Inner Light by Debbie Mandel: First: Stop comparing yourself to others. When we look at others, we tend to focus on one or two things. Their success at work. Their looks. But life’s not that simple. The person you envy might give anything to switch places with YOU. You never know what’s going on behind the scenes, so don’t be so quick to covet. Next: Focus on the possibilities. For example, if someone at work gets noticed by the boss, be glad their efforts were appreciated. Because that means you work someplace where hard work is noticed, so it can happen to you, too. And one last way to avoid jealousy: Make a change. Like all emotions, jealousy has a purpose. It identifies the things we’d like to change and it motivates us to take action. If you’re jealous about your friend losing weight and it motivates you to stick to your diet, that’s a good thing. If all you do is sit and stew in your envy, you’re just hurting yourself and your friendship. Want to go further? Check out the book: Turn On Your Inner Light by Debbie Mandel.
