So, you’re a dude with a date. No problem! Here are tips to help you make a great impression on a woman. Considering that women make their mind up about a man in less than 30 seconds, you need to put your best foot forward. So, here’s some help from Rodale Publications, whether you look like Tom Cruise or Eugene Levy. Any guy can pull these off.

• The first rule: shave! Sorry guys, but women prefer us without the scruff. In fact, a poll by Yahoo.com found that 70% of women like a clean-shaven man. The best time to shave: right after you shower, when the bathroom is still steamed up. The moisture helps soften your beard, making it easier to cut. First, shave with the grain, then go against the grain. That helps get rid of ingrown hairs.
• Spritz into the wind! Wearing too much cologne is a big pet peeve for women. Why? Studies show women have a stronger sense of smell because estrogen causes their noses to be more sensitive to odors. So, don’t asphyxiate your date - simply spray your fragrance twice into the air, then walk through the mist. How do you know if you have too much on? Don’t bother sniffing yourself – you can’t tell.  Your nose becomes desensitized to the fragrance. Instead, five seconds after spraying cologne on yourself, lay a tissue against the spot you sprayed. If the tissue sticks, you’ve sprayed too much. Wait 15 minutes before going out – or use a cotton ball with rubbing alcohol on it to cut the scent.
• And when it comes to your physical appearance women want: A guy with a sense of style. To women, good grooming and dressing well are more important than a handsome face, a buff bod, or height. So put on a blazer with your jeans. And here’s how being well dressed makes an impact.  In a study, employers were shown two pictures of the same person. In one picture, the job candidate was dressed down and in the other, they had on a suit. All the employers said they'd be more likely to hire the well-dressed person and pay them 20% more than the slob, even though it was the same person! And the same rule applies when it comes to women and dating. The guy with style wins.
