NBA Lockout Boosting Relationships for Fans

Ladies: Are you noticing more romance in your relationship lately? Thank the NBA lockout.

For those who don’t know: That’s the term for the ongoing labor dispute between professional basketball players and owners. The lockout caused the NBA to recently cancel all their games through December and experts say that even if the two sides reached an agreement today, teams wouldn’t start playing games again until February!

So how are die-hard basketball fans filling the void? According to several new reports we’ve read, many couples are enjoying more date nights, movies, and dinners-at-home lately all because men can’t watch basketball.

What do the experts have to say about this trend? Dr. Gilda Carle is a relationship expert who says like it or not, many guys forget romance when their favorite team’s on TV and the NBA lockout has given some guys a chance to “re-learn” their role as husbands and boyfriends.

That’s why Dr. Carle recommends making the most of this opportunity. Basically, she says you should try rewarding the man in your life for being more “emotionally present” in your relationship, by cooking him a surprise dinner, for example. That way, you’ll remind him of the closeness you’ve been experiencing lately and he’ll be more willing to keep the romance alive even after basketball returns!
