It seems that women reading the personal ads are more interested in men with O.H.O.C.
I have some things I bet you didn't know about the opposite sex, courtesy of the Sun Times. It seems that women reading the personal ads are more interested in men with O.H.O.C. that stands for own house, own car - than they are in men with O.H.O.T. - own hair, own teeth.
This is the result of a study of nearly 3,000 personal ads done by Richard Atkins of the Thames Valley University in London. Women are apparently more interested in a man's status, income, and education than his appearance. And that works out well, because men would rather talk about their accomplishments than anything else.
Atkins found that men spend most of their ad space describing themselves. Women spend the majority of their ads talking about what they're looking for in a partner. And the ladies were 6 times more likely to seek a partner with status than the guys were.
Why? Atkins thinks men brag about themselves for the same reasons peacocks flash their feathers to compete for female attention. And since they're being pursued, women can spend more time being selective.
By the way, if you're going to advertise, don't forget to include SPIR - for smartest person in room.
