Going to summer camp doesn't necessarily mean camping, hiking and swimming.
Here's a list of specialized camps from ABC News that might be more interesting to your kids.
- First, there's Camp Jam the ultimate rock & roll day camp run by Jaff Carlisi, lead guitarist from the '80s band Thirty-Eight Special. It's for kids 11 to 18 years old and by the end of the week, you learn enough to play in a band with other kids at your level.
- Then there's Barbershop camp. And it's not for future hair stylists! It's a music harmony camp for barbershop quartets. But it's not old-fashioned. You've heard harmony in action with recent groups, like 'N Sync and Boyz 2 Men.
- Another unusual camp out there is, Hip-Hop Camp. It's a 2-week session where kids learn the fundamentals of D.J.ing, emceeing, break-dancing, and graffing.
- And then there's Circus Camp where members of the Big Apple Circus from New York teach kids how to throw pies, ride unicycles, juggle, walk a tightrope, and fly on the trapeze.
