Also, friends can pay attention to any preferences you have about height, weight and personality traits that an Internet photo or profile won't always weed out. And people scouring the Internet for dates aren't always trustworthy. Someone looking for a short-term thrill might pretend to want marriage and a white picket fence just to win your heart. Only to break it later.
