Blind dates are back!

If you're single and dating, you know it's a jungle out there. Between speed-dating and sifting through all those Internet profiles. What's missing is a personal recommendation! That's why old-fashioned blind dating is making a comeback!

It used to be that blind dates were for desperate folks who couldn't get asked out in any other way. But according to USA Today, matchmaking by friends may have the greatest potential for establishing a solid relationship. The date's already been checked out and vouched for by someone you know and trust. Also, friends can pay attention to any preferences you have about height, weight and personality traits that an Internet photo or profile won't always weed out. And with a pre-approved blind date, if your friend says the guy is a pilot, you know he's really a pilot and not some dude working at a rental car outfit in the airport.

And people scouring the Internet for dates aren't always trustworthy. Someone looking for a short-term thrill might pretend to want marriage and a white picket fence just to win your heart. Only to break it later.

Also, it's easier for an online date to stand you up. With a blind date, they'd have to answer to the friend that set them up with you.

And for a lot of people, the Internet just feels too contrived and unromantic. That's why relationship experts say that blind-dating is definitely making a comeback.

Because after all, you wouldn't choose a new doctor without a referral. It makes just as much sense not to choose a DATE without one!
