Tell me a story! That's what more and more home buyers are asking their real estate brokers.

According to the Christian Science Monitor, gone are the days of "home staging"   where a decorator swoops in to redo a house. And forget about "undecorating," so buyers can re-imagine the empty space with their own furnishings and art.
Today's potential buyers don't just want a list of amenities. They want to know everything about a house--Who built it, who lived there, the history of the area, and anything else that gives a house character and personality.
For instance, in Southern California, if any Hollywood celebrity lived in a house, or even came to a party there, it adds a certain cachet. And in historical areas like Virginia, potential buyers want to know about historical battles, or early native and Colonial inhabitants.
In fact, some brokers are spending up to 10 days researching the history of a house before creating an illustrated presentation. And it's giving them an edge--Many storytelling realtors are showing 50 percent more properties than traditional brokers.
So remember, next time you go to an open house, pull that realtor aside and say, "Tell me a story!"
