Sometimes we just don't pay as much attention to our teeth as we should!

So here's some intelligence for your pearly whites, courtesy of the Bottom Line Personal Newsletter.
  • First: A tooth knocked out in an accident CAN be saved. When it falls out of your face, pick it up - but don't stop and clean it. Wrap it in a wet cloth and get both you and your tooth to the dentist immediately. And if it's your kid that loses a tooth, even better. Reimplantation works best with kids.
  • Next: Playing the trumpet or trombone can help correct bucked teeth, because of the inward pressure on them. But playing the flute or the piccolo can make them worse, because your tongue helps to press your teeth outward.
  • More intelligence for your teeth: Don't fly within 12 hours after dental work. The change in atmospheric pressure can cause severe pain.
  • Also: Use UN-waxed dental floss. It's better because it absorbs particles. And one last bit of advice for those pearly whites: When you make a dental appointment, schedule it in the morning. Studies say that you feel pain less in the morning than in the afternoon.
