It's called "plyometrics," Also known as "jump training". According to CNN, it's been used for decades by elite athletes, to develop and improve strength, power and speed. But it's finally becoming mainstream. And you just might start seeing some plyometrics moves at your local gym.
So, what is plyometrics? It starts with simple jumping exercises, graduates to hopping over cones, and ends up with more advanced moves, like "depth jumping," which involves jumping out of a tall box. And it helps you sprint, and stop, and pivot in sports.
So, if improving your athletic performance is at the top of your wish list, check out plyometrics. But it can be hard on the joints, especially if you have a history of knee and back problems. So talk to your doctor before you try it.
