If you always seem to run out of energy, you could just be tired...

Or the people you hang out with could be draining you dry. That's from Judith Orlaff, M.D. and author of Positive Energy. Here are 3 toxic personalities, and how to keep them from sapping your strength:
  • First, there's the Drama Queen. She has a new crisis every day, and always uses it as an excuse to flake out on you. What can you do? Next time it happens, tell her you sympathize with her crisis, but she promised to join you, and you just won't take "no" for an answer.
  • Next, there's the Constant Complainer. She laments about her life for hours on end. So, let her know that rehashing the problem is wearing both of you out. And say, "When you're ready to talk about solutions, just let me know"
  • And the final personality that could be sapping your energy is: The Non-Stop Talker. If it's a stranger on a plane, say, "I'm really tired. So, don't take my silence personally." But if it's someone close, say "I really feel left out when you do all the talking. Mind if I jump in?"
If you'd like to go further, the book is called Positive Energy by Dr. Judith Orlaff.
