Do you skip breakfast?

Boy, you are definitely not alone. According to a poll by ABC News, 40 percent of adults skip breakfast. Despite the fact their mothers always said it was the most important meal of the day. Here are some other surprising statistics:

Of the adults who do eat breakfast, half of those under 45 years old say they wolf down their food. Because most of the wolfers are trying to get kids off to school, or get themselves off to work. Also, the people who eat cold pizza are 25 percent more likely to be full-time workers, instead of stay-at-home folks or part-timers.

And if you're 55 or older, you're 10 percent more likely to choose hot cereal over cold. So, what are the most common breakfast foods eaten in the U.S.?

  • #3: finger foods, like bagels, toast, muffins or pastries. But bagels are #1 if you live in the Northeastern United States.
  • #2: eggs, with or without bacon or ham. Which is tops on breakfast menus in the South.
  • And the most common breakfast food: Cold cereal. In fact, it's the most popular breakfast item for both men and women.
So, how about the all-time favorite off-beat breakfasts? According to the poll, these foods got the most votes: Cold pizza, spaghetti, doughnuts and cola, cookies and coffee, peanut-butter-and-banana sandwiches. And don't forget pancakes with gravy, liver-and-grits. Man, I wanna eat breakfast with you people! You gotta be awake after a meal like that!
