Sneaky Dieting Tricks That'll Help You Cut Calories Without Missing Them
Would you believe me if I told you that you could lose weight without depriving yourself of the foods you love? I hope you said yes. Because you can! Here are sneaky dieting tricks that’ll help you cut calories without missing them. We found this in Fitness Magazine.
- Sneaky dieting trick #1: Eat until you’re “hara hachi bu.” This Japanese term means “eat until you’re 80 percent full,” and it’s a calorie-saving strategy used by the Okinawans, who have one of the lowest rates of heart disease, cancer, and stroke – and one of the highest life expectancies – of any population in the world! To try it, eat about half the portion you usually consume. Then, wait 20 minutes, and you'll probably be full. Your body will get used to eating less food within a few days, and you won’t even miss those extra calories!
- Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables. Not only are they low in calories, but they contain lots of water, so you’ll feel full faster, and consume fewer calories. In fact, according to a recent study, if you eat plenty of fruits and vegetables, you’ll consume 24% fewer calories a day!
- Do more baking. Dry-heat cooking methods - such as broiling, baking, and roasting meat - can help cut calories from your meal. For example, broiling salmon can slash 120 calories from the pan-fried version – because you use less oil and butter when you’re broiling compared to when you’re pan-frying. Also, remove the skin from chicken after it’s cooked – you’ll chop 40 calories and 6 grams of fat from your meal.
- Slim down your sandwich. Switching from tuna packed in oil to tuna packed in water can save you over 70 calories. Make your sandwich a wrap – thin whole-grain tortillas have 60 to 80 fewer calories than two slices of hearty grain bread.
