I’ve got some either / or questions for you, and you may be surprised by the answers

This comes from First magazine:

·       Right off the bat, which is better: Regular coffee or decaf? Go for the full-strength java jolt. Coffee has antioxidants that can cut your risk of Alzheimer’s and diabetes in half, and lower your odds of depression and certain types of cancer by 30 percent. But regular coffee also helps you lose weight. The caffeine reduces your appetite, raises your metabolic rate, and boosts the amount of fat you burn from exercise by 31 percent. Enough to help you lose 15 pounds every year without counting calories! Also, drinking too much decaf raises your bad cholesterol levels.

·       Next, should you hit the gym or break out a workout video? Go ahead, stay home and fire up your DVD player. Studies show that people who exercise at home are just as likely to lose weight as gym rats. And 80 percent of exercisers would rather be outdoors or at home, instead of sweating it out with strangers.

·       Finally, you’re too tired to cook. Should you order pizza or Chinese for dinner? Pizza’s actually a much better choice than Chinese.

Even high-veggie-content Chinese dishes can be loaded with more fat, salt and calories than a few slices of cheesy pizza. For example, an order of Ginger Chicken and Broccoli from P.F. Chang’s has 620 calories and 21 grams of fat. That’s almost double the damage from two slices of Domino’s hand-tossed cheese pizza. But the best part about the pizza is the tomato sauce. Here’s why: Dr. Mehmet Oz, who wrote the book “You: The Owner’s Manual”, says you should eat 10 tablespoons of tomato sauce a week. It’s good for you because of the lycopene and the antioxidants in it. Raw tomatoes work, too, but when they’re made into a sauce, the little bit of added fat from olive oil helps your digestive tract absorb all those magical, health-inducing chemicals.
