Want to boost your brainpower?
Want to boost your brainpower? Then sit back and play a videogame! It may sound surprising, since videogames have had a negative rep for years, but a growing body of research shows that they’re good for your brain, and can improve everything from multi-tasking skills to creativity.
For example, a recent University of Rochester study found that people who play videogames can pay attention to twice the number of things at the same time as non-gamers. Gamers are also incredibly quick thinking. In fact, people who play videogames make decisions 6 times faster than those that don’t.
Also, researchers recently had 500 middle school students take a creativity test and complete a questionnaire asking them how often they played videogames.
The result? The more a child played, the higher their creativity score.
So, why do videogames pump up your brain? Experts say that they require you to be quick-thinking, hyper-aware, and a good problem-solver, otherwise, it’s game over! So every time you play, you’re training your brain to run at top-speed, and your superstar gaming skills can cross over into your real life.
