Tributes to loved ones

Tributes to loved ones who pass away are very personal. And many tributes have moved beyond tradition, away from the headstones, memorial garden stepping-stones, and adopted church pews.

Such as, making diamonds from a loved one's ashes, launching the ashes into outer space, or exploding them in a fireworks display. But latest type of tribute is completely electronic. And it's called the Legacy Online Obituary. It's an "e-guest book" - where family and friends can create something called a Moving Tribute. It's basically a slide show set to music. You choose the tunes, post photos from your computer, add text messages, and include narration by calling a voicemail system. The only things they won't post are politically-tinged comments about the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Up until now, electronic obituaries were connected to newspaper websites. And they were taken down anywhere from a month to a year later depending on the policy of each newspaper. But now, you can create a tribute meant to stay online permanently. And it's only $29 dollars.

If you'd like to go further, you can see recent tributes on the website at www.Legacy.com.
