The hair on your head can tell the story of your life
Your ethnic background, your environment, and what you eat. According to MSNBC, scientists could analyze your hair, and find out if you smoke, drink or take drugs. And if your hair is long enough, they'll know everything you did the past 5 years. How's that possible? Hair is like an Arctic ice core. As it grows, it keeps a record of everything your body ingests or absorbs from the environment. Here are some more fun hair facts:
- The average person has 130,000 hairs on their head. Blondes usually have more hair, about 140,000 strands. Redheads and brunettes have about 100,000.
- You lose 50 to 150 strands of hair every day.
- What else can I tell you about hair? It grows about half an inch a month. That's 6 inches a year. And most hairs die when they're about two-and a-half feet long which means they fall out after about 5 years.
- And a single strand of hair can support 3-point-5 ounces the equivalent of 1 small box of instant pudding mix. That means, your whole head of hair could theoretically support the weight of 2 African elephants. That's over 32,000 pounds!
