By helping you tap into something endocrinologists call “emotional energy”. According to Shape magazine, 70% of our energy is controlled by our emotional state. For example, you know how hanging out with people who bring you down leaves you feeling drained? That’s emotional energy. So, try these tips to get energized emotionally – which translates into physical energy:

  • Break out of your rut. High-energy people are always trying something new. And unfamiliar tasks stimulate the growth of new pathways in the brain and kick hormones into ‘Go mode’. You don’t have to change your whole life. Something as simple as cooking a new food or trying a new haircut does the trick.
  • Do something scary. For example, if the idea of speaking in public gives you the willies, make a toast at a dinner party. By facing small fears, you reduce the amount of stress in your life. And that leaves more mental energy for the things you enjoy.
  • And one last tip for using emotional energy to boost your physical energy: Smile. Studies show that feelings follow actions.
