Keep Your Brain Sharp

Tips here from Jeff Victoroff who is a professor of neurology at University of Southern California and who wrote the book, "Saving Your Brain First- keep in mind that the lifestyle decisions you make on a day to day basis radically influence whether or not your brain works at peak performance. With that in mind, try these brain enhancers.
  1. Take a new route to work. Any time you do something that challenges your brain to think in a different way-- and exploring new routes to work, hiking unfamiliar trails , even taking on new projects at work   will, over time, act like a Miracle-Gro for your mind.
  2. Have some protein. When everyone else reaches for a bagel, go for the protein. Swiss researchers found that a high protein meal vs. a high carbohydrate meal helped people score the highest on memory tests.
  3. And finally to keep your brain working on high alert-- Pop those vitamins. In a study published in the journal, "Neurology", those who took vitamin E and C supplements daily, performed 20% better on tests of concentration, memory and reasoning than those who didn't down the vitamins.
