Are you a perfectionist?

You might be, if you're a persistent, detail-oriented, high-achiever, with extremely high standards. But perfectionists are often disappointed, because nobody can live up to their expectations. Also, being a perfectionist can keep you from getting close to other people, limit your creativity, and prevent you from getting what you want, either because you try too hard, or you decide if you can't do it perfectly, you won't try at all. That's according to Cynthia Curnan, psychotherapist and author of The Care and Feeding of Perfectionists. Here are the top 4 signs that you're a perfectionist:
  • Number 1, you can't stop thinking about a mistake you made.
  • Number 2, you are intensely competitive and can't stand doing worse than anybody else.
  • Sign number 3 - You either want to do something "just right" or not at all.
  • And the final clue that you might be a perfectionist is, you won't ask for help, because that could be seen as a flaw or a weakness.
If this list describes you, you might want to check out the book The Care & Feeding of Perfectionists by Dr. Cynthia Curnan.
