Is the majority of your day spent staring blankly at the computer? Here are three quick tips to make the most out of your workday:

  • Embrace paper! Print out copies of important e-mails and reports. Research shows that people are less likely to understand material or find it interesting if they read it on a screen.
  • Hang a picture of an authority figure on your wall. It can be anyone from Franklin Roosevelt to your mother. Why? People are more cooperative when they think they’re being watched. So, having a pair of eyes on the wall in your office will motivate you to get your work done.
  • Get a second computer monitor. Researchers found that adding a second screen to your workspace helps you complete tasks 7% faster, makes you 10% more productive and makes you commit 33-percent fewer errors.
