Here are a few reasons you might feel left out, courtesy of CareerBuilder.com.
First: You’re a know-it-all. "The sky isn't really blue - it's cyan" Do you constantly spout unnecessary or obscure information that people really don’t care about? Unless what you have to say is essential to the conversation, lose the “know-it-all” attitude. It’s obnoxious.
Next: You’re a workaholic wannabe. Do you stroll in late, take extra long lunches, and put off serious work until about 2’oclock? You may think that’s fine, because you stay past 5:00 - but you’re not impressing anyone. You’re actually annoying people who’ve already put in a full day before you even get warmed up.
Another reason they run from you at work: You give the term “devil’s advocate” new meaning. Do you feel compelled to take the other side of every argument - just to make a point? Well chill out!
Nothing annoys your coworkers more than knowing you’re always ready to challenge them - no matter WHAT they say.
And finally: You might be unpopular at work if you can’t keep your lips from flapping! Do you barge into cube after cube forcing one-way conversations on your coworkers? If the only response you ever hear is, “Uh-huh, uh-huh, uh-huh” – they’re not
interested in your idle chatter. So zip your lips and back to work!
