Try These Grilling Tips For Burgers, Chicken, and Steak

Just because the kids are back in school and your summer vacation is now a memory, it doesn’t mean you have to put the grill away for the rest of the year! Here are some quick grill tips from the book “Brilliant Food Tips and Cooking Tricks”. Use these and I promise your friends will be impressed, your family will have full stomachs, and they might even buy you that chef’s hat you’ve had your eye on.

  • Let’s start with burgers. Add 4 tablespoons of ice water to each pound of ground sirloin. When you slap those puppies on the grill, the heat will seal in the extra moisture, making your burgers the juiciest on the block.
  • Chicken – I know, this is a toughie. Chicken always takes longer to cook than everything else, so here’s what you do. Nuke it in the microwave for 6 minutes on medium high heat, or until the chicken begins to turn white. Then brush it with bar-b-q sauce and slap it on the grill with the rest of the stuff, and it’ll be done at the same time.
  • Lastly, if you want tender, juicy steaks - put half a cup of plain, fat-free yogurt into your marinade and let it sit for an hour. The live bacteria in yogurt produce acids that break down the fibers in the steak making it really tender.
Again, the book is called “Brilliant Food Tips and Cooking Tricks”.
