Single ladies – this is for YOU! If you’ve ever uttered the phrase “There just aren’t any good guys left anymore,” – there's good news and bad news. The good news is – YES there are! The bad news? Your attitude isn’t helping you find one. J.M. Kearns, author of Why Mr. Right Can’t Find You,saysthere are a few ways women keep the right guy away. Are you guilty of one – or more? We got these from the researchers at Condé Nast Publications.

  • Mistake #1: You make yourself ‘bad boy bait.’ Maybe you’ve been burned before, but when the time comes in your new relationship to talk about past boyfriends, you don’t let your dislike of liars show. So, dishonest men think, “She’s been lied to before – she can be lied to again.” If things start getting serious with someone, you have to let them know where you stand in terms of dishonesty – and that you won’t put up with it. Break your addiction to bad boys in general.  Value yourself by being attracted to good guys and it’ll be easier to find a serious relationship.
  • Mistake #2: You play Sleeping Beauty. Kearns says waiting for the perfect man to wake you with a kiss is a good way to end up with the wrong man– because YOU aren’t doing any of the choosing. So instead of waiting for Prince Charming to come along and discover you, seek out someone you’re compatible with. Stop waiting to be rescued and start going to places where you’ll meet someone with similar interests and values.
  • One last reason you’re keeping the right guy away: You believe there’s only ONE Mr. Right.  Sure, it’s comforting to dream about your soulmate, but it’s smarter to believe that when you fall in love with a man you’re emotionally and physically compatible with, he’ll become The One.
