There are three foods that’ll help you stay healthy during cold and flu season. What should you add to your grocery list?
Garlic. It has anti-viral, anti-fungal and antibacterial properties. In one study, garlic successfully killed 14 strains of bacteria taken from the noses and throats of children with ear infections.
Shiitake mushrooms. They help produce white blood cells called natural killer cells, which release a protein into infected cells causing them to self-destruct.
Sweet potatoes. These are rich in carotene, which is the chemical that gives certain vegetables their orange color. And it’s a key player in the fight against infection. Why? Our liver converts carotene to vitamin A, which fortifies your skin, making it less permeable to germs.
